BOARDING AT WINDCHASE


     Windchase is an Eventing boarding and training facility in Hillsboro, VA, owned and operated by Olympic Event rider Phyllis Dawson. We offer exceptional horse care, top-level training, and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere on 267 acres of beautiful countryside beside the Blue Ridge Mountains. Whether you’re a dedicated competitor or a weekend pleasure rider, you and your horse will feel at home here. We also offer full-training and partial-training programs with board, along with instruction for riders of all levels. Our trainers work closely with the USEA’s Eventing Coaches Program (ECP) and are highly accomplished riders and instructors.

Conveniently located: 15 minutes from Purcellville • 20 minutes from Leesburg • 30 minutes from Middleburg, Frederick, and Dulles Airport • Central to USEA Area II

      Windchase is a full-care facility. Board includes grain and hay, stall cleaning, daily turnout, and blanket changes as needed. Horses enjoy excellent turnout with spacious pastures, with daytime turnout in the winter, and nighttime turnout in the warmer months. Individual paddocks are available for a small fee.
     Our experienced horsemen provide attentive, knowledgeable care. Many owners tell us their horses become happier, healthier, and more relaxed here than anywhere else they’ve boarded.
     Boarders have access to lessons, training rides, exercise riding, and additional services (clipping, mane pulling, braiding, etc.) as desired—never required. The barn is open every day, with no restricted hours.
     We welcome Eventers and riders of all disciplines.

  • Indoor Arena: 70 x 200 ft, bright, well-ventilated, with dust-control sprinkling system
  • Outdoor Jumping Arena: 200 x 210 ft with a full set of show jumps
  • Outdoor Sand Dressage Arena and Grass Dressage Arena - Our arenas feature state-of-the-art sand/rubber footing
  • Quality stabling for 46 horses
  • Field board with run-in sheds is also available
  • Spacious, double-fenced turnout pastures with separate mare/gelding fields; individual paddocks available
  • 100+ acres of cross-country schooling, from Starter through Intermediate, with over 250 fences, water complex, banks, mounds, ditches, all with exceptional footing
  • Galloping hill with superb footing
  • 267 acres of pastures, riding fields and trails – our ride-out is second to none
  • Close to many excellent Events, Shows, and Foxhunts
